Welcome to Mrs. Collins’ Kindergarten class!

I am delighted to be working with your child this year. I have an exciting year planned full of opportunities for learning and growing. This is my 19th year teaching in Fayette County, and my 18th year teaching Kindergarten. I am looking forward to an awesome year with you and your child!

*Snacks: I will send home a Snack Calendar home for each month. Please send enough snacks for the entire class (20 children) on your child’s snack day, once a month. If you are unable to bring snacks, please let me know.

*Homework: Please check your child’s folder for daily homework. Homework is Monday-Thursday and should only last 5 to 10 minutes each night. Read with your child each night and discuss the pictures as well as letters/ sight words we have learned to help improve your child’s fluency.

*Grades: Report Cards go home every 9 weeks. I will send a review skills sheet to study for the interim/report card. Please review these report card skills with your child at home.

*Behavior: I will send home a daily conduct calendar in your child’s folder each day. It will consist of an E, S, N or U. Please initial this daily. E-Excellent, S- Satisfactory, N-Needs Improvement, and U-Unsatisfactory. A parent/student/teacher conference will be required for N’s and U’s as they will not be tolerated in our classroom.

* Newsletter: I send home a weekly newsletter. This will inform you of everything we are studying in each subject area for the week. It will also include the weekly spelling words, weekly sight words and important dates or messages. I often add a wish list of things we would like for our classroom. We are always in need of Chlorox wet wipes, candy,  paper towels, Lysol spray, baby wipes and Ziploc baggies. If you would like to donate anything, it would be very much appreciated.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the school at (901)235-4242 or email at [email protected] .

I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with you and your child.

Thanks again,

Ms.  Mandy
